Elvis Hinton, a coal miner's son, was born in a log cabin in Webster County,
Kentucky. He received his B.A. Degree from Union University, Jackson,
Tennessee, the B.D. and M.Div. Degrees from Southern Baptist Theological
Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky, and did graduate studies at Union Seminary,
Richmond, Virginia. He served twenty-two years as a Southern Baptist Pastor,
three years, as Chaplain at Southwestern State Hospital in Marion, Virginia,
and thirteen years as a United Methodist Pastor. |
